As all balisongers will
attest to, cuts are inevitable when learning balisong manipulation.
The following is a list of popular first aid products among balisongers.
For first aid treatment of cuts and scrapes, you may also visit
this
page at the Mayo
Clinic for more information.
- Neosporin:
An antibiotic ointment that is placed on cuts to help facilitate
healing. Generally this will be put on a cut and then covered
with a bandage.
- Liquid
Bandage: A recent offering from Band-Aid, liquid bandage
is applied over cuts to stop minor bleeding, reduce minor pain
and promote fast healing. It creates a "clear, flexible,
breathable seal" over the cut to prevent the cut from reopening
and also to prevent bacteria from getting in.
- Superglue (Cyanoacrylate):
Superglue has been used by many to close up cuts and prevent it
from reopening and causing further damage or scarring. It does
work in a pinch, but medical grade cyanoacrylate may be a better
choice.
- Medical Grade Superglue
(Cyanoacrylate): Medical grade superglue is the same as regular
superglue but is packaged in a sterile environment so it is obviously
a better choice (than regular superglue) for use on cuts.
- Tetanus shot:
Tetanus is a disease that can result from even minor cuts and/or
wounds. It is a bacterial infection that leads to stiffness of
the jaw and other muscles and may cause severe muscle spasms.
Tetanus can be life-threatening if not treated properly. Click
