This site was created as a side project by me for the purpose of promoting and distributing information about the balisong (commonly referred to as a "butterfly knife"). Over the years, the balisong has been portrayed negatively by the media and as a result has been outlawed in many areas throughout the the U.S. (and the world). The balisong is frequently associated with gangs and violence for no legitimate reason--only because it is frequently a "bad guy" weapon in movies and television. The balisong's sometimes flamboyant manipulation techniques have given it a bad reputation when it is a legitimate art form and the knife itself has very real and practical applications.

I originally created this site for my own personal use but felt the need to expand it and make it more widely available in hopes that others may find it useful and maybe one day the balisong will be able to escape the stigmata that have been following it all these years. This site is not meant to replace the many balisong sites out there, but is meant to supplement them. Thank you for visiting BalisongInfo.com.
