While already a well-known knifemaker, Rick Hinderer burst onto the custom balisong scene late in 2003 with his Fire Whirl design (pictured below). The Fire Whirl was a (sold out) run of 7 pieces and quite amazingly, this reportedly is Rick's first attempt at a balisong.
