Like most knives, balisongs can be carried in a number of ways. The simplest way is, of course, to just latch the balisong and drop it into a pocket. It is simple, but the balisong may not be as readily available as some other carry methods and also requires that you have a latch on your knife or else it may open while in your pocket.

Another method of carry is the pocket clip. The pocket clip, which was popularized with more traditional (often referred to as "tactical") folding knives, also works well for balisongs. The Benchmade model 31 (BM31), was the first production Benchmade balisong to appear with the pocket clip, followed shortly by the BM42C and more recently the BM4x MC models. The Cold Steel Arc Angel also comes with a pocket clip and so will the new Spyderfly from Spyderco. This method of carry also requires a way for the balisong to be locked in the closed position (i.e. via a latch).

The last method of carry mentioned here is the sheath method. Like many knives, balisongs often come with sheaths. All production Benchmade knives (without clips) come complete with nylon belt sheaths straight from the factory. There are also many balisong sheath makers that will custom fit a sheath to your balisong. These sheaths are generally made from either Kydex, Concealex, or leather. Kydex and Concealex are both similar materials, with Concealex being slightly stiffer and having a thicker inner surface. Xtreme Sheathworks, which used to be a part of BalisongXtreme.com , made many kydex balisong sheaths. While Clay (owner of Xtreme Sheathworks and BalisongXtreme) no longer takes custom orders, Knifezilla does carry some common sheath models. Click on the Xtreme Sheathworks link below to see an example of this type of sheath. Leather sheaths are also very popular with balisongers and there are some quality sheathmakers out there that custom make leather sheaths for balisongs.
